After you have written your first novel (or second, third, etc.), it can be difficult to tell others. Mostly because many authors are introverts and/or we just don't want it to be taken the wrong way. We are also usually pretty anxious as we are opening ourselves up to criticism of our work as well. The reality is that most people will be excited for us and genuinely want to know about our book. Regardless, we have to challenge ourselves to be active, to put ourselves out there, and to give each book the best shot at success. One way to do that is through social media. We thought we would put together some sample posts to help get you started.
10 Sample Posts to Tell Friends and Family About Your New Book
10 Sample Posts to Ask Book Reviewers to Read a Free Copy of Your Book
10 Sample Posts Reach a Genre-Specific Audience on Social Media
The most important thing to do as an author is to be your own cheerleader and support system while you are first starting out and trying to build up your fan base. Remember that your friends and family are likely going to be excited and happy for you. You may not get the same initial reaction from book reviewers and/or genre fans, but hang in there and keep posting. Just like it was a challenge to get your book written, it will be a challenge to get readers to be aware of your book. That's completely normal. Don't get discouraged, just keep giving it your best effort and it will pay off in the end!
